Greetings from the Rector

Welcome to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.

We are a parish who see ourselves “worshipping and serving God in order to reflect and pass on the Light of Christ.” For those who belong to the congregation, all we do has its center in the Sunday worship, fellowship, education and service. For many others who come to, and through St. Luke’s, their connection may be the Music School, the Senior Center, the Community Food Pantry, YMCA Yoga, or any number of twelve step groups who use the church’s facilities on almost every evening of the week all year long.

Inreach and outreach summarize all our efforts to fulfill the parish mission. Families and individuals, young people and elderly, newcomers and long time members make up the fabric of the congregation.

People say they come here because it’s a welcoming and safe place for youth who are much loved, respected and involved from the nursery through high school. People appreciate a place where music fills the whole church all week long as well as on Sundays. Others have said it’s a place where our faith is both nourished and challenged in order to serve God and reflect the Light of Christ in our lives all week. Newcomers say it’s a friendly place where it doesn’t take long to get involved if you really want to, or simply come and say your prayers and take refuge in a beautiful worship place filled with exquisite stained glass windows, warm wood and an old fashioned feel. We are heading toward our one hundred and seventy fifth anniversary propelled by stated goals that various groups are working on to keep us a lively and relevant place where God can be worshipped and God’s people served in a modern day context.

It’s a vital, exciting and loving place to find a church home, and we hope that all who visit our website will want to visit on Sunday, say a prayer, and find a welcome.

The Rev. R. Craig Burlington, D. Min.
Rector
