Youth Faith Formation
St. Luke's Church nurtures the faith formation of young people with offerings that are joy-filled, creative, and engaging. At every step, our goal is to support our youth as they navigate the challenges of school, culture, sports, and growing up.|
For pre-K through grade 6, we offer Godly Play — a Montessori-based approach to teaching the Bible, which begins each class with storytelling and invites children to respond to the faith stories through a variety of creative arts.
For grades 7 and up, we offer a curriculum called Journey to Adulthood (J2A), which is a complete youth ministry program of spiritual formation. J2A encourages relational ministry and uses Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, outreach ministries, and both serious and playful activities to underscore the two guiding principles of the program: manhood and womanhood are free gifts from God, and adulthood must be earned.
J2A is complemented by our confirmation program, which spans two years. Students begin in either grade 9 or 10 and are confirmed in the spring of grade 10 or 11.
Ages pre-K through grade 4 attend classes during our worship, with classroom drop-off at 10:10. The students then join the congregation mid-service for the Eucharist.
Grades 5 and up have classes from 9:00 to 10:00.
Safe ChurchAll clergy, employees, and volunteers at St. Luke's Church are required to undergo Safe Church training through the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island.
